Froglife is a national wildlife charity committed to the conservation of amphibians and reptiles – frogs, toads, newts, snakes and lizards – and saving the habitats they depend on. Here at connect we have been lucky enough to work with an ambassador from froglife, Gary, who has been kind enough to come in and talk about their work with our members as well as running some inventive and fun art projects with them. This has been a wonderful project that runs on from our work over summer at the allotment, helping our members to look after their local environment and understand how they are helping wildlife when they do. Working alongside Froglife, we have engaged many of our members in these projects, adapting conventional art techniques to be a little more fun. We designed a beautiful canvas and filling the background with crushed chalks everyone could get their hands into, along with several other individual projects. Our members are really enjoying this workshop and Gary is a very popular addition to the centre on Thursday afternoons. All our visitors can view the results of our hard work as there are a few pieces spotted around the centre on display, this has been a real source of pride for our staff and members.
