PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To drive and support people with a disability on transport to and from the centre as well as

various activities within the community and at the centre including transport.

REPORTS TO:

The Service Manager and in their absence the Team Leader.

ACCOUNTABLE TO: 

The Service Manager and in their absence the Team Leader.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:                                             

Working as part of a team in order to facilitate members getting to community based activities and ensuring that the gardens and internal maintenance of the buildings are kept to a high standard.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:  You may be required to: -

1. Work shifts including weekends if required

2. Ensure that the vehicle(s) is/are maintained arranging servicing / MOT’s as necessary liaise with service management.

3. Cover special events such as driving for service user holidays.

4. Attend staff meetings as appropriate to the job

5. Support Members to take part in activities in the community such as gardening and outdoor trips. Working as part of the team, alongside the activity coordinators to support our members.

Driver Key Areas:-

1. Assisting with providing a needs-led service in keeping with the aims and objectives of the organisation.

2. Ensuring the vehicle(s) and all equipment used in the external and internal is properly maintained

3. Reporting any service needs of whatever nature to the Manager.

4. Ensuring all relevant documentation is completed and accurate.

5. Undertaking training relevant to the role of driver / maintenance worker/ emergency procedures

6. Ensuring all policies and procedures allocated to the centre are followed including but not limited to transport and adverse weather conditions.

7. Carrying out duties in compliance with the company’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

8. Carrying out duties in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and subsequent Health and Safety legislation.

9. Ensure that the vehicle(s) are washed internally and externally and ensuring their compliance with road traffic requirements. Reporting vehicle accidents /incidents immediately to the appropriate manager.

10. Always driving with due consideration to other road users and the passengers being transported and in full compliance with road traffic regulations. Reporting any traffic penalties immediately to the appropriate manager.
